"There's something to be said about a glass half full, about knowing when to say when. I think it's more of a floating line, a barometer of need. Of desire. It's entirely up to the individual, and it depends what's being poured. Sometimes all we want is a taste. Other times there's no such thing as enough, the glass is bottomless... all we want is more."

"A couple of hundred years ago, Benjamin Franklin shared with the world the secret of his success. 'Never leave that 'til tomorrow,' he said, 'Which you could do today.' This is the man who discovered electricity. You’d think more of us would listen to what he had to say. I don’t know why we put things off, but if I had to guess, I’d say it had a lot to do with fear. Fear of failure. Fear of pain. Fear of rejection. Sometimes the fear is just of making a decision, because what if you’re wrong. What if you make a mistake you can’t undo. Whatever it is we're afraid of, one thing holds true. That by the time the pain of not doing the thing gets worse than the fear of doing it."

"Stolen"

We watch the season pull up its own stakes
And catch the last weekend of the last week
Before the gold and the glimmer have been replaced,
Another sun soaked season fades away
You have stolen my heart
Invitation only, grand farewells
Crash the best one, of the best ones
Clear liquor and cloudy eyed, too early to say goodnight
You have stolen my heart
And from the ballroom floor we are in celebration
One good stretch before our hibernation
Our dreams assured and we all, will sleep well
You have stolen
You have stolen my heart
I watch you spin around in your highest heels
You are the best one, of the best ones
We all look like we feel
You have stolen my
You have stolen my heart

Persist...

"Sometimes what you think will work great, doesn't work at all. But that doesn't mean that nothing will work.
Sometimes you build your hopes up, only to be disappointed. But that doesn't mean that your hopes have lost their value.
On the contrary, your hopes and ideas have great value, even though they may expose you to great frustration. Though it may be over difficult and uneven terrain, they do push you forward.
Your ideas are still valid, your hopes are still justified, and your dreams are still alive. Pick yourself up, adjust your approach based on what you've learned, and make another attempt.
Feel the joy of knowing that you can persevere. Transform the power of the challenge into your own inner strength.
Grow your way forward, through the triumphs and the setbacks. Persist, and anything is within your reach."

Acceptance...

"The first step towards change is awareness. The second step is aceeptance"

Love...

"Love that we can not have is the one that lasts the longest, hurts the deepest and feels the strongest"

Different

"in order to be irreplaceable you must always be different"

Straight up...

"People are a lot like beverages. Some smooth. Some go down easy. Some cheap...Some just need to open up before they can be appreciated...So why water yourself down? Hide under a bunch of overwhelming mixers? Be straight up. Maybe a little ice, a little cola?...Don't ever try to hide your true flavor. Because ultimately it's that flavor that you'll be remembered for. Life is about finding your usual. And the right person to share it with...."

Courage...

"Maybe we're not supposed to be happy. Maybe gratitude has nothing to do with joy. Maybe being grateful means recognizing what you have for what it is. Appreciating small victories. Admiring the struggle it takes simply to be human. Maybe we're thankful for the familiar things we know. And maybe we're thankful for the things we'll never know. At the end of the day, the fact that we have the courage to still be standing is reason enough to celebrate."

Life.. is.. to.. short....

"Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. Believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life...let it. Nobody said that life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it."

Holding...

“Sometimes you have to let go to see if there was anything worth holding on to.”

No Matter...

No matter how many times I get hurt because of you, I wont leave you because even if I have a hundred reason to leave you, I'll look for that one reason to fight for you.

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

You cant...

"you can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you might find, you get what you need!"

I have learned...

I Have Learned...

I've learned that you cannot make someone love you.
All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.

I've learned that no matter how much I care,
some people just don't care back.

I've learned that just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

I've learned that it takes years to build up trust,
and only seconds to destroy it.

I've learned that it's not what you have in your life
but who you have in your life that counts.

I've learned that you can get by on charm for about fifteen minutes.
After that, you'd better know something.

I've learned that you shouldn't compare yourself to the best others can do
but to the best you can do.

I've learned that it's not what happens to people that's important.
It's what they do about it.

I've learned that you can do something in an instant
that will give you heartache for life.

I've learned that no matter how thin you slice it,
there are always two sides.

I've learned that it's taking me a long time
to become the person I want to be.

I've learned that it's a lot easier to react than it is to think.

I've learned that you should always leave loved ones with loving words.
It may be the last time you see them.

I've learned that you can keep going
long after you think you can't.

I've learned that we are responsible for what we do,
no matter how we feel.

I've learned that either you control your attitude
or it controls you.

I've learned that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first,
the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place.

I've learned that heroes are the people who do what has to be done
when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I've learned that learning to forgive takes practice.

I've learned that there are people who love you dearly,
but just don't know how to show it.

I've learned that money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I've learned that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing
and have the best time.

I've learned that sometimes the people you expect to kick you
when you're down will be the ones to help you get back up.

I've learned that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry,
but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I've learned that true friendship continues to grow,
even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.

I've learned that maturity has more to do with
what types of experiences you've had
and what you've learned from them
and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

I've learned that you should never tell a child their dreams are unlikely or outlandish.
Few things are more humiliating, and what a tragedy it would be if they believed it.

I've learned that your family won't always be there for you.
It may seem funny, but people you aren't related to
can take care of you and love you and teach you to trust people again.
Families aren't biological.

I've learned that no matter how good a friend is,
they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I've learned that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I've learned that no matter how bad your heart is broken
the world doesn't stop for your grief.

I've learned that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.

I've learned that sometimes when my friends fight,
I'm forced to choose sides even when I don't want to.

I've learned that just because two people argue,
it doesn't mean they don't love each other.
And just because they don't argue,
it doesn't mean they do.

I've learned that sometimes you have to put the individual
ahead of their actions.

I've learned that we don't have to change friends
if we understand that friends change.

I've learned that you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret.
It could change your life forever.

I've learned that two people can look at the exact same thing
and see something totally different.

I've learned that no matter how you try to protect your children,
they will eventually get hurt and you will hurt in the process.

I've learned that there are many ways of falling and staying in love.
I've learned that no matter the consequences,
those who are honest with themselves get farther in life.

I've learned that no matter how many friends you have,
if you are their pillar you will feel lonely and lost
at the times you need them most.

I've learned that your life can be changed in a matter of hours
by people who don't even know you.

I've learned that even when you think you have no more to give,
when a friend cries out to you, you will find the strength to help.

I've learned that writing, as well as talking, can ease emotional pains.

I've learned that the paradigm we live in is not all that is offered to us.

I've learned that credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.

I've learned that the people you care most about in life
are taken from you too soon.

I've learned that although the word "love" can have many different meaning,
it loses value when overly used.

I've learned that it's hard to determine where to draw the line
between being nice and not hurting people's feelings
and standing up for what you believe.

What you've always wanted

You attempted something and it did not work. But that doesn't mean it will always fail to work.

When you truly desire to find a way, there is a way. Go back and remind yourself why you wanted to do it in the first place.

The obstacles you encounter do not prevent you from getting it done. Those obstacles enable you to get it done in a more creative, effective, realistic and sustainable way.

Right now you are more knowledgeable and experienced than you've ever been. Give it another go, and discover how much more effective you've become.

Don't fret about the opportunities you've missed. Instead, discover how those opportunities have now evolved.

The pathway may look different now, yet it is indeed still there. Confidently take that first step, and begin to do what you've always wanted to do.

-- Ralph Marston

Footprints...

"One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
“You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for me?”

The Lord replied,
“The times when you have seen only one set of footprints in the sand,
is when I carried you."
